How to reverse a trailer?

By Campers, Trailers

Reversing a trailer can be a tricky task, but with some practice and the following steps, it can be done safely and efficiently:

1. Plan your route: Before reversing, take a moment to survey the area behind the trailer to ensure it is clear of any obstacles. If possible, have a helper guide you to ensure the trailer doesn’t hit anything.

2. Check your mirrors: Make sure your side mirrors are adjusted so that you can see the entire trailer. If necessary, step out of the vehicle and physically adjust the mirrors.

3. Engage reverse gear: With the vehicle in park, engage the reverse gear and slowly release the parking brake.

4. Steer in the direction you want the trailer to go: The direction of the trailer will be opposite of the direction the front of the vehicle is facing. For example, if you want the trailer to move to the right, steer the front wheels to the left.

5. Keep a slow and steady pace: Remember that the trailer will take longer to respond to your steering inputs, so make small, gradual turns. Avoid sudden movements or jerks as this can cause the trailer to sway.

6. Use your brakes: If you need to stop, use the brakes on the vehicle, not the emergency brake. This will help keep the trailer under control.

7. Practice: Reversing a trailer takes time to master, so don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t go perfectly the first few times. Keep practicing and you’ll get the hang of it.

Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and recommendations, and if you’re not comfortable reversing a trailer, it’s best to seek the help of a professional driver.

Trailer Standards in Queensland

By Campers, Trailers

In Queensland, Australia, trailers are required to comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) for trailer safety standards. These rules cover various aspects of trailer construction and operation, including brakes, suspension, lighting, and load capacity.

Some specific trailer safety requirements in Queensland include:

1. Brakes: All trailers with a Gross Trailer Mass (GTM) of 750 kg or more must have a braking system that complies with the ADRs. This includes electric or hydraulic brakes on all wheels, or an override braking system on at least one axle.

2. Lights: All trailers must have functioning brake lights, indicators, and taillights, which must be visible from a distance of 200 meters.

3. Couplings: All trailers must have a compliant coupling system that securely attaches the trailer to the towing vehicle. This includes a safety chain or cable that can support the full weight of the trailer in case of coupling failure.

4. Load capacity: Trailers must have a load capacity that is appropriate for the weight and size of the load being carried. Overloading a trailer can cause it to become unstable and increase the risk of accidents.

It is important to note that these requirements may vary depending on the type and intended use of the trailer. Stonegate Industries ensure all our trailers meet safety standards in the state, and can provide advice and guidance on compliance requirements for various trailer types and uses. For more info on trailer standards in Queensland, please visit Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads Website.

Tucana Teardrop Price Increase Notice 2021 Dec

By Campers

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Tucana Teardrop Caravan Recommended Retail Price Change Notification

Dear Valued Customers,

Like many businesses, the current operating environment continues to be challenging for us. More recently, with a surge in global demand and fixed capacity in the supply chain, we are experiencing unprecedented inflationary pressure across direct materials used in our products.
In particular, electronic components & assemblies, plastics, aluminium and metal raw materials have increased significantly in the last 12 months. To minimise these cost increases, we have optimised our own operations and, where possible, we have used our global purchasing power with our suppliers.

Unfortunately, we can no longer continue to absorb these cost increases. We have no alternative other than sharing a proportion of these unprecedented cost increases to maintain quality & supply.

Please note as of 1st January 2022, there will be a 10% increase on price while ordering the base model Tucana teardrop. The new starting price will be $32,999.00.

To ensure your value for money, we will be offering the 2022 upgraded chassis and layout out and a Dometic ® or Evakool ® fridge freezer as new part of the standard inclusions.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Tucana Team
